Hartnett was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and grew up in the Minneapolis area. He began acting professionally in the late 1990s.
Career
Hartnett became widely known through films including The Faculty, The Virgin Suicides, Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down. His later television and film work includes Penny Dreadful, Oppenheimer and Trap. He leads Netflix’s Below as Calvin Penney.
