Biography

Queen Sirikit served as Queen Consort of Thailand from 1950 to 2016 and then as Queen Mother. She championed Thai culture, particularly silk and handicrafts, and led major charitable work including founding the SUPPORT Foundation. She passed away on 24 October 2025 at age 93.

Early Life

Born in Bangkok on 12 August 1932 during Thailand’s transition to a constitutional monarchy. Daughter of Prince Nakkhatra Mangkala Kitiyakara and Mom Luang Bua Snidvongs. She studied abroad and met King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) while in Europe.

Career

Married King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) on 28 April 1950 one week before his coronation. She became Queen Consort, then Queen Mother after his death in 2016. She championed rural development, the Thai Red Cross, and preservation of Thai craftsmanship until her death on 24 October 2025.
