Biography
Araya Alberta Hargate, known as Chompoo Araya, is a Thai actress, model and host born in Bangkok on June 28, 1981. Of English, Lao and Thai descent, she has been a leading Thai drama actress since the late 1990s and is known internationally for her red-carpet appearances at the Cannes Film Festival and fashion weeks.
Early Life
Her nickname Chompoo means "rose apple" in Thai. She graduated from Rangsit University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She first came to public attention in 1998 when she won the Miss Motor Show contest, and landed her first acting role that same year at 17.
Career
Araya made her acting debut in the Channel 7 lakorn Pleng Prai in 1998 and has since worked across Thai television channels 3, 5 and 7. Her best-known dramas include Dao Bpeuan Din (2008) and Dok Som See Thong (2011), widely regarded as her signature performance. She won the Television Golden Award for Best Actress in 2009 and was voted FHM's sexiest actress several times between 2007 and 2011.
She is one of Thailand's best-known faces in fashion, serving as an ambassador for L'Oréal Paris and appearing regularly at Cannes and international fashion weeks. She married Visrut "Nott" Rangsisingpipat on May 6, 2015, and the couple have three children, including twin sons born in September 2017.
