Biography
Haifa Wehbe is a Lebanese singer, actress and model, born Haifa Mohammed Wehbe on 10 March 1976 in Mahrouna, a village in the Tyre District of southern Lebanon. She is Lebanese, the daughter of a Lebanese father and an Egyptian mother, and is one of the most recognised entertainers in the Arab world.
Wehbe first drew attention through beauty pageants and modelling before launching a music career in the early 2000s. She has released seven studio albums and moved into film with a guest appearance in the 2008 Pepsi-produced movie Sea of Stars (Bahr Al Nojoum), followed by a leading role in Khaled Youssef's Dokan Shehata in 2009.
In 2006 People magazine included her on its list of the 50 most beautiful people.

Early Life
Wehbe's father, Muhammad Wehbe, is Lebanese, and her mother, Sayeda Abd al-Aziz Ibrahim, is Egyptian. Although she was born in the south, she grew up in Beirut, with three sisters and one brother.
At 16 she won the title of Miss South Lebanon. She went on to compete for Miss Lebanon, but the title she was given was later withdrawn because the contest required entrants to be unmarried and without children. She then worked as a fashion model, appearing in advertising campaigns, commercials and music videos.

Career
Wehbe released her debut album, Houwa El-Zaman, in 2002, and it quickly made her a prominent new name in Arabic pop. Her second album, Baddi Aech, followed in early 2005 on the back of the single "Ya Hayat Albi". Before her music career took off she also worked as a broadcaster on the Arab Radio and Television Network in 1999.
Her screen career began with a guest role in Bahr Al Nojoum in 2008, and the next year she starred in the Egyptian film Dokan Shehata, directed by Khaled Youssef. She has since continued to work in both music and acting and has won a number of regional awards as a singer and performer.
Wehbe has one child and has been married twice; her second marriage, to Egyptian businessman Ahmed Abou Hashima, lasted from 2009 to 2012.
