Early Life
Woods grew up in a family of teachers; she has said both of her parents worked as educators for decades. She started nursing school at about 20 and graduated at 22.
While still a student she began posting about nursing school on a small private Instagram account, hoping to show a more positive side of the profession. The scrubs brand Cherokee Uniforms offered her free scrubs in return for posts, and she went on to work with the company for about six years. She married David in 2016; she has recalled that money was tight enough that he wore his police uniform at the wedding instead of a rented tuxedo.

Career
Woods spent most of her nursing career in the pediatric ICU at a Level 1 trauma center, including work through the COVID-19 pandemic and a role as a float nurse covering the hospital's pediatric tower. She also took a second job as an aesthetic nurse injector. She kept working in the ICU until days before giving birth to her daughter in May 2021, and has said she rarely earned more than about $60,000 a year as a bedside nurse.
Her online audience grew as she moved from nursing content to lifestyle, family and fashion videos. In February 2023 she gained roughly a million followers in a single month, and later that year she left full-time nursing to work as a creator, while keeping her nursing license. Her husband later left his job to help at home. She has worked with brands including DIBS Beauty and Adidas, and by late 2024 she had close to three million followers across platforms.
She hosts CHEERS! with Avery Woods, a weekly lifestyle and culture podcast with guest interviews. In January 2025 it moved to the Unwell network, in the network's first acquisition of an existing show. In April 2026 Hulu named her as part of the cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, alongside Aspyn Ovard, Bobbi Althoff, McCall DaPron and Madison Bontempo. Season 1 premieres on November 12, 2026.
