Biography
Lalisa Manobal, known professionally as Lisa, is a Thai rapper, singer, dancer and actress born on March 27, 1997 in Buriram province, Thailand. She is a member of the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK, has a global solo career, and made her acting debut in HBO's The White Lotus in 2025.
Early Life
Lisa was born Pranpriya Manobal in Satuek district, Buriram province, and later legally changed her first name to Lalisa, meaning "the one being praised". She was raised by her Thai mother and her Swiss stepfather, a chef. In 2010, at 13, she auditioned for YG Entertainment in Thailand and was the only applicant selected out of about 4,000. She moved to South Korea and became YG's first trainee who was not ethnically Korean on April 11, 2011.
Career
Lisa debuted as a member of BLACKPINK in August 2016, becoming the label's first non-ethnically Korean artist, and became one of the most-followed K-pop performers in the world.
Her solo debut single album Lalisa was released on September 10, 2021 and sold 736,221 copies in South Korea in its first week. Its title track's music video set a record for the most-viewed video by a solo artist in 24 hours, with 73.6 million views.
In February 2024 she founded her own management company, Lloud, and in April 2024 she signed with RCA Records. February 2025 brought both her debut studio album, Alter Ego, and her acting debut as Mook in season three of HBO's The White Lotus. She is a global ambassador for Celine, Bulgari, Louis Vuitton and Nike.
