Biography
Suchata Chuangsri, known as Opal (Thai: สุชาตา ช่วงศรี), is a Thai beauty queen and breast health advocate who won Miss World 2025. Born in 2003 in Phuket province, Thailand, she was crowned at the 72nd Miss World final in Hyderabad, India, on May 31, 2025, becoming the first woman from Thailand to win the title and the second from Southeast Asia.
Before Miss World she was Miss Universe Thailand 2024 and placed third runner-up at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico City. She studies politics and international relations at Thammasat University and speaks Thai, English and Chinese.
Her charity work centres on Opal For Her, a campaign she founded to raise awareness of breast health and early detection, shaped by her own surgery as a teenager. She held the Miss World crown until September 5, 2026, when she crowned her successor, Joheirry Mola Dominguez of the Dominican Republic, in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

Early Life
Opal was born in Phuket province to Thanet Donkamnerd and Supatra Chuangsri, and grew up in a family that runs a hotel business in Phuket's old town. At 16, doctors found lumps in her breasts and she had surgery to remove them. She has said the experience led her to campaign on women's health.
She went on to study at Thammasat University in Bangkok, enrolling in the Faculty of Political Science to pursue a bachelor's degree in politics and international relations.

Career
Opal first competed in Miss Universe Thailand in 2022 at age 18, placing third runner-up; she was moved up to second runner-up after the original first runner-up was removed. She returned in 2024 representing Bangkok and won Miss Universe Thailand 2024, along with several special awards.
At Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico City she placed third runner-up and received a silver Voice for Change award. In April 2025 she was named Thailand's representative to Miss World. Because she accepted that title before finishing her 12-month reign, the Miss Universe Organization withdrew her third runner-up placement on April 22, 2025.
At Miss World 2025, held at the HITEX Exhibition Center in Hyderabad, she won the Asia and Oceania Multimedia Challenge on her way to the final. On May 31, 2025, she was crowned by outgoing titleholder Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic, ahead of Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia, Maja Klajda of Poland and Aurélie Joachim of Martinique. During her reign she promoted Opal For Her and joined Miss World charity visits, including one to children in Quang Ninh, Vietnam. She passed on the crown at Miss World 2026 in Nha Trang on September 5, 2026.
