Biography
Farhana Bodi is an Indian-born, South African-raised influencer, entrepreneur and reality television personality who has lived in Dubai since 2008. She was born in Gujarat, India, grew up near Johannesburg, and is best known as one of the original cast members of the Netflix docu-soap Dubai Bling, in which she has appeared in Seasons 1, 2 and 3.
When Netflix announced the show's cast in 2022, it introduced her as a single mother and social media influencer known for high fashion, travel and luxury events. She is often described as the only cast member of Indian origin on the series, and she has spoken about wanting to represent her heritage on screen.
She is the founder of I Am Woman of the World, a platform that connects brands with clients through lifestyle events and promotes women-led businesses. She has more than three million followers on Instagram.
Early Life
Farhana was born in India, and her family moved to Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1990. She grew up in Azaadville, near Krugersdorp on the West Rand, and spent her childhood and teenage years there before leaving South Africa in 2004. Her brother is the former South Africa cricketer Gulam Bodi.
She trained as a makeup artist at the Face To Face beauty school in Johannesburg. At 19 she moved to the United Kingdom, where she worked as a makeup artist for brands including MAC, Bobbi Brown and Estée Lauder, and she also began modelling. She speaks English, Hindi, Gujarati and Arabic.
Career
After moving to Dubai in 2008, Farhana built a career as a model and beauty and lifestyle influencer. Her first television appearance was on the first season of MTV's Paris Hilton's Dubai BFF in 2011, where she appeared in the opening five episodes before being eliminated.
She founded I Am Woman of the World (also styled I, Woman of the World), which began as a lifestyle blog and grew into a business focused on events, brand partnerships and women's empowerment. Her online following grew with fashion, beauty, travel and red-carpet content, including appearances at the Cannes Film Festival and London Fashion Week.
Dubai Bling premiered on Netflix on 27 October 2022, with Farhana as one of the original cast. Her storylines have included her life as a single mother to her son, her business and her friendships and conflicts with castmates, among them Zeina Khoury in Season 1 and Safa Siddiqui in later seasons. She returned for Season 2 in December 2023 and Season 3 in January 2025. In interviews she has spoken about the online criticism she has faced since the show, and about keeping her roots in India and South Africa while making Dubai her home.
